I am awestruck by seeing the range and beauty of flowers that are blooming everywhere at the moment. They are in my garden, other people’s gardens, growing wild along the side of the road and in fields.
They catch my eye. I ask what it is that brings my eyes to them.
Their beauty, with its diverse forms and colours, is so attractive. But what is it that makes them so beautiful and appealing that they grab my attention?
Rudolf Steiner said ‘’colours are the soul of nature and the cosmos. We partake in this soul by living in and with the experience of colour.’’
I now understand that the beauty of the flowers is the same as my soul. It is in the mirroring of each other that I am drawn to when I see the beauty in flowers.
The spirituality of colour has deep roots in various cultures, traditions, and belief systems. Each colour is often associated with particular emotions, spiritual energies, or symbolic meanings, especially when expressed through flowers.
“When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment.” That quote from Georgia O’Keeffe beautifully aligns with my sense of awe and soul-mirroring through flowers. O’Keeffe didn’t just paint what she saw; she painted what she felt, and invited others into that same deep awareness.
What do you feel when you see a flower? How do you feel when you see your ‘true colours’ or the ‘true colours’ of one of your team members?
